Renew Your Spirit
Ahhhhhh, the spas. The thought alone conjures images of blissful relaxation — and escape from the worries of life’s daily demands. Scores of spas serve up treatments that suit your needs, time, and budget. Whereever you go, expect to be pampered. Let go and honor yourself: Renew your mind and body.
A Taste Of The Spa
As increasing numbers of spa-goers visit these oases of calm with friends, resorts are offering healthful lunches to extend the spa experience. At the Hyatt Grand Champions Resort in Indian Wells, Dr. Richard Foxx, medical director of the Medical and Skin Spa at Agua Serena, worked with Executive Chef Chris Mitchum to create a salad using local dates and figs. Here’s the recipe:
Eau Thermale Spa Body Care
Eau Thermale Spa Body Care. Increases cell division, stimulates cell renewal, and eliminates dead cells on the skin surface. Procedure: This 80-minute body treatment incorporates slow, gentle gestures that leave the skin soothed, soft, and radiant. A warmed thermal gel covers the body, which is then wrapped in a warm blanket to allow the hydrating and soothing gel to penetrate. A full-body massage follows. Ingredients: Spa waters of Marie-Henriette spring water in Belgium.
Korean Body Splash
Removes dead skin, polishes the body, and boosts immune function. Procedure: An invigorating scrub over the entire body, followed by a sage body wash, shampoo and scalp massage, and a soothing body lotion to leave skin silky smooth. Duration: 50 minutes. Ingredients: Desert sage body wash, organic lotion, and Korean towel.
Luxurious Facials and Body Care
Regenerates and restores the skin to youthful qualities: soft, smooth, elastic, resilient, and radiant. Procedure: Procedures begin with a personalized evaluation of skin, followed by professional treatment recommendation.
Native Clay
Native Clay, Strengthens connective tissue, restores skin tone and elasticity, and promotes the skin’s natural balance. Procedure: This intense, 50-minute hydrating treatment begins with a moisture application, followed by application of a native clay mask to seal in healing minerals. After the mask hardens and is removed, the treatment ends with a finishing lotion for lasting results you can see and feel. Ingredients: Marine algae and thermal spring water from Aachen (contains sodium, calcium, potassium, magnesium, and silica)
The Friend Trend
The latest spa trend has less to do with the muds, scrubs, and wraps on the menu than the spa-goers themselves. With that in mind, it seems everything old is new again. The “friend trend” harks to ancient Roman baths, which were important gathering centers.
